U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced on May 11 that it arrested criminal illegal aliens convicted of capital murder, sex crimes against children, kidnapping, and assault during targeted enforcement operations conducted over the Mother’s Day weekend in multiple states.
The agency said these actions were part of ongoing efforts to remove individuals who pose threats to public safety from local communities. The announcement highlighted specific cases, including the arrest of Magdaleno Roman Rosales, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico convicted of kidnapping in Irving, Texas, as well as others convicted of capital murder in Bexar County, Texas, and sex offenses against children in Massachusetts and California. These operations focused on removing individuals with serious criminal convictions, according to the Department of Homeland Security press release according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Texas law enforcement agencies worked with federal partners during this operation. Multiple arrests occurred in Texas locations including Irving, Bexar County, Harris County, and Roma. The cases involved convictions for kidnapping, capital murder, assault on a family member, and illegal re-entry. Such enforcement actions are intended to reduce the presence of convicted criminals in Texas communities where public safety remains a priority according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
In fiscal year 2024 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 81,312 noncitizens with criminal convictions or pending charges. Those individuals had a combined total of more than 516,000 charges and convictions including homicides, robberies and kidnappings. The agency said it prioritizes enforcement against noncitizens with serious criminal histories to maintain public safety and the integrity of immigration laws according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was established in March 2003 as part of the Department of Homeland Security. The agency enforces federal immigration laws through criminal and civil investigations while promoting homeland security and public safety. Its Enforcement and Removal Operations division manages the identification, arrest, detention and removal of individuals subject to removal or unlawfully present in the United States according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
