Dallas College students brought home the gold, silver and bronze at the 2022 SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference held April 7-9 in Houston.

We captured 22 medals in 11 technical categories. Forty-seven students from three campuses attended the competition, accompanied by 10 faculty members. Winners compete at the national conference in Atlanta June 22-25.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to attend the state competition. I learned the necessary industry standards to succeed in my career while improving my confidence skills,” said North Lake student, Robert McKibben.

Dallas College’s SkillsUSA program is a partnership between learners, educators and industry leaders to support students interested in training programs in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.

“I felt such joy celebrating with the SkillsUSA medal winners. They were confident, poised and had such a positive attitude. I wish we could expose all of Dallas College to this type of transforming experience that guarantees success in the workforce,” said Dr. Maria Boccalandro, dean of Special Academic Programs.
