Pitch Your Business Idea to Dallas College’s ‘Shark Tank’

Do you have the next great business idea? If you said yes, Dallas College is ready to hear it!

The Texas Cup Pitch Competition is coming to Dallas College later this month. Students, employees and alumni are eligible and encouraged to participate.

Presenters will have four minutes to pitch their business idea to a panel of judges at Dallas College, similar to what you see on the TV show “Shark Tank.” This competition is presented by GSV, a venture capital firm that describes itself as “investing in leaders transforming the $7 trillion global education market.”

Presenters will gain valuable feedback, mentoring and possibly cash! The top three pitches will win prizes of $500, $250 and $100. Those three – and a few more – will advance to the semifinals to compete against participants from other local colleges and universities.

Presentations will be held Thursday, March 30, and Friday, March 31 at Dallas College. The exact time and location will be given once participants fill out this online form. Those interested must register before noon on Wednesday, March 29.

Of note, presentations are limited to four minutes and include the presenter(s) only. No slideshows, posters or props are allowed. Judging is based on creativity, inventiveness and how well the presenter articulates and presents their pitch.

The semifinals will be held virtually on Saturday, May 6, with the finals being an in-person event May 22-24 at the GSV Mission Summit at SMU in Dallas. The GSV Mission Summit will have 500 potential investors in attendance to listen to pitches.

Additional questions should be emailed to TexasCup@DallasCollege.edu.
