The 2023 UT Dallas baseball team will compete for its third consecutive American Southwest Conference and fourth in six years.

Shane Shewmake, entering his 22nd season as head coach, has never had a losing season and this year's Comets should continue the trend. UTD was picked to finish second in the preseason ASC poll with nine first place and only four points behind top pick East Texas Baptist, who secured 10 first place votes. The Comets went 35-17 overall and 20-10 in league play, winning the ASC Championship Tournament and hosting the regional round of the NCAA Tournament - the program's fourth appearance.

The Comets return 19 letterwinners from last year's team including two position starters and 12 pitchers. Graduate student shortstop Keagan Vance was a Second Team All-ASC selection in 2022 and sophomore pitcher Jake Jennings and Dylan Hugley were on the Third Team. Senior third baseman Andrew Skivington was an Honorable Mention.

Three Comets were on the ASC Preseason Players to Watch list - junior utility player Dylan Bivins, sophomore first baseman Grayson Coltharp and senior left-handed pitcher Ryan Vera.

UTD received votes (RV) in both the preseason D3baseball.com poll and the Collegiate Baseball poll.

The Comets start the season on February 17-18 when they face RV Texas Lutheran and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Seguin, Texas. They also have non-conference home-and-away battles with St. Thomas (Texas), Southwestern (Texas) and #3/5 Trinity (Texas). March 10-13 will see UTD compete in the RussMatt Central Flordia Invitational against #11/12 Rowan, #32/RV Bethel (Minn.), RV Salve Regina and #38/RV Southern Maine.

UT Dallas begins ASC play with a home series against Hardin-Simmons beginning February 24. They will also have home series with McMurry (March 3-4), Sul Ross State (March 24-25), Howard Payne (April 6-7) and #21/24 ETBU (April 21-22).

Road conference series include Ozarks (March 17-18), Concordia Texas (March 31-April 1), RV Mary Hardin-Baylor (April 14-15) and LeTourneau (April 28-29).
