The UT Dallas men's cross country team finished 12th at the NCAA Division III West Regional at the Plantes Ferry Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The finish was the best at a regional in program history. The Comets also had the best finish among American Southwest Conference teams with 318 points.
Junior Graeme Maclean, coming off a record-breaking individual medalist finish at the ASC Championship, finished 37th with an 8K time of 25:42.9, the third-fastest mark in school history. His finish was also the second best at a regional in UTD history.
Senior Griffin Davis was 55th in 26:15.6 and graduate student Trent Sakakini took 59th in 26:20.8. Freshman Christopher Castro had a personal-best 26:35.2, finishing 79th and junior Devan Bailey was 104th in 27:06.5. Freshman Javion Zavala also had a PR in 27:25.5 for a 113tth place finish and sophomore Jayden Chambless took 116th place in 27:30.2.
The Comet women sent two runners to the regional. Sophomore Rebeca Betanzo was a tenth of a second off her personal best, running the 6K course in 24:38.1 for 90th place. Sophomore Sage Herrera was 93rd in 24:45.3.
