COLLIN COLLEGE AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM EARNS ACCREDITATION

107

Collin College’s Automotive Technology program has been formally accredited by the ASE Education Foundation, a mark of validation for automobile technician training programs based on strict industry standards. The Automotive Technology program is one of several high-demand skilled trade programs offered at the state-of-the-art Collin College Technical Campus located in Allen.

Collin’s program was accredited in “Master Automobile Service Technology,” the highest level of accreditation recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). The accreditation process included a review of the program’s facilities, course of study and training materials, evaluations of the program advisory committee, and discussions with program graduates and their employers, among other qualifications.

“We compliment you for attaining the level of excellence recognized by the ASE Education Foundation,” said Michael Coley, president of the ASE Education Foundation. “Both the educational and automotive communities should be proud of your commitment to quality.”

Dr. Bill King, provost of the Technical Campus, agreed that accreditation was an important step in the Automotive Technology program’s development.

“Our students deserve the best education possible, and this accreditation is an indicator of how seriously we take providing industry-standard training to them,” Dr. King said. “Our graduates leave here ready for a fulfilling career in a field they love.”

The Automotive Technology program offers a full degree program and certificate programs that prepare students for ASE certification in Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR), Automotive Service Technician (AST), or Master Automobile Service Technology (MAST) designations.

The Technical Campus, which opened in 2020, also offers more than a dozen degree and certificate programs in fields including collision repair, construction, drafting, electronics, HVAC, health sciences, nursing, and more. The campus is home to the Bachelor of Applied Science in Construction Management starting in Fall 2022.
