The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has given approximately $2.7 million to Head Start of Greater Dallas, Inc., which will go toward early childhood readiness.

Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson said the Head Start of Greater Dallas is a nonprofit that has been giving children skills and knowledge they need to be successful in school and life in Dallas for more than 30 years.

“This continued grant funding for Head Start projects will allow Head Start of Greater Dallas, Inc. to continue providing children with the foundation of skills needed to prepare them for future educational success,” Johnson said in a press release.

The Head Start of Greater Dallas serves low-income children in preschool, infants and toddlers throughout Dallas County. There are 44 Head Start and Early Head Start centers throughout the county, with approximately 2,500 students receiving skills and knowledge.

More information on the organization can be found online.
