The City of Garland has implemented a Business Assistance Program to aid local small businesses that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.

According to the Garland Chamber of Commerce, applications will be accepted until Aug. 7. Qualifying small businesses with no more than 20 employees are eligible for a grant of up to $20,000 in reimbursement for costs incurred on or after March 1 due to required closures, voluntary closures to promote social distancing, or decreased customer demand. Grant money can be used to recoup the cost of payroll, rent, mortgage, utilities, PPE and related expenses.

The amount of funding for the program is $500,000 via the CARES Act. If at least 75 percent of the grant funding is not distributed by Aug. 14, the Chamber will open grant applications to businesses employing 21 to 50 employees.

The application, guidelines and eligibility requirements can be found on the Chamber's website.
