The City of Garland has teamed with Catholic Charities of Dallas to provide emergency mortgage and rental assistance to those impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

Applications are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To qualify, Garland residents must have lived in the city limits since March 1 and must not have received additional housing assistance from the CARES Act or through any other agency. Additionally, the resident must make less than 120% of the area median household income.

For example, a one-person household median income is $72,400. A two-persons median income is $82,750.

Residents must also provide information documenting the impact the COVID-19 crisis has had on their lives. Examples include proof of a recently lost job or reduced hours, whether the loss is temporary or permanent.

Finally, residents must provide documentation stating they have incurred household expenses directly related to COVID-19 that hindered them making rent or mortgage payments.
