Thanks to Dallas County’s updated method of issuing federal stimulus assistance, the City of Richardson is set to receive an additional $549,780 under the CARES Act.
According to Community Impact Newspaper, more than half a million dollars that Richardson will see its total assistance rise to $4.7 million from Dallas County and $2.4 million from Collin County.
From helping locals pay rent and mortgage to providing funds for small businesses, there are a few ways cities can use the money to help their residents. Ultimately, the assistance is an effort to help boost the economy amid nationwide shutdowns because of COVID-19.
While commissioners agreed that each city in Dallas County would get $55 per resident for those who haven’t been issued state assistance, cities have now petitioned the county to use the highest population out of two recent sets from the U.S. Census when calculating how much each city would be allotted.
