U.S. Representative Beth Van Duyne (R-TX-24) has introduced the No Aid for Illegal Entry Act, a bill aimed at stopping federal funding to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that provide services such as housing, transportation, or legal assistance to individuals who have entered the United States unlawfully.
Van Duyne criticized the current administration’s immigration policies and described her legislative effort as an attempt to end what she called a “vast network of NGO illegal immigrant support services.” She stated: “I could not be more thankful for the work President Trump, and his Administration are doing to reverse the damage caused by the Biden Border Invasion. While I support his actions, and voted to fully fund them, Congress needs to go further by enacting reforms to cut off funding and strangle the illegal immigration industrial complex. No Aid for Illegal Entry Act, is a necessary and common-sense step to prohibit taxpayer dollars from ever being used by NGOs to provide housing, sheltering, transportation, or legal services for illegal immigrants. It’s time we break this vast network of NGO illegal immigrant support services and prevent it from ever being rebuilt.”
The proposed legislation would bar federal funds from going to NGOs that provide legal services related to immigration proceedings, housing or accommodations, or transportation for those who entered the country in violation of U.S. law. The act makes an exception for minors under 18 years old.
Additionally, it would prohibit the Department of the Interior—including all its bureaus and offices—from managing contracts or agreements involving these activities or administering programs related to migrant resettlement or immigration enforcement.
Heads of federal agencies overseeing grants to NGOs would be responsible for ensuring compliance with these rules as a condition of receiving funds. The restrictions would apply only to grants or contracts entered into after the bill becomes law.
Beth Van Duyne has served Texas’s 24th Congressional District since winning her seat in 2020. She secured reelection in both 2022 and 2024 by defeating Jan McDowell and Sam Eppler respectively.
