This week, the City Council unanimously adopted the City’s annual budget for Fiscal Year 2023. The budget includes 8 new police officers, enhanced landscaping for downtown and HWY 66 medians, a new fence for the Wet Zone, and much, much more!
While Rowlett residents can expect to pay higher property taxes due to increased assessed values, the City Council was able to lower the City tax rate from $0.74500 to $0.68100, the lowest rate since 2005.
Due to a 13% increase in the cost of water purchased from the North Texas Municipal Water District, there will be an increase to utility rates. Residents that use an average of 7,500 gallons will see an increase in their water rates of 1.8% which equates to about $2.21 per month.
Additionally, inflationary factors in both the Consumer Price Index and diesel fuel rates have increased our solid waste contract with FCC to its 5% max escalator. This will result increase residential rates by 3% and commercial rates by 5%. For residents with a single polycart, this will equate to approximately $0.67 per month.
