Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, who represents Texas’ 24th district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates this weekend on her official social media account regarding local law enforcement honors and ongoing tax relief efforts.
On April 4, Van Duyne highlighted her participation in a Texas Department of Public Safety ceremony: “Honored to be part of a @TxDPS ceremony this week where two new tactical marine vessels were formally named in honor of Troopers H.D. Murphy and E.B. Wheeler — killed in the line of duty in 1934 by Bonnie and Clyde.” The event recognized troopers Murphy and Wheeler, who were killed during the infamous crime spree of Bonnie and Clyde.
Later that day, she commented on current tax policy impacts: ” Massive tax refund season is underway! Thank you to @guypbenson for highlighting all of the work that went into delivering the Working Families Tax Cuts to hardworking Americans, who are now seeing real relief and keeping more of what they earn! @GuyBensonShow”
In an early morning post on April 5, Van Duyne wrote simply: “Easter Miracle!”
Van Duyne has represented Texas’s 24th District since 2021 after succeeding Kenny Marchant. She was born in Ithaca, New York in 1970 and currently resides in Irving. In recent elections, she defeated Sam Eppler in 2024 with over 60% of the vote, Jan McDowell in 2022 with nearly as large a margin, and Candace Valenzuela in a closely contested race in 2020.
