Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, who represents Texas’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on her official Twitter account this week regarding legislative efforts and priorities.
On May 16, 2026, Van Duyne highlighted her participation with fellow Texas House Republicans in advancing border security legislation. She stated, “This week, I joined my Texas House Republican colleagues in urging Congress to pass our resolution to ensure that Texas is never again subjected to the open-border lawlessness we endured for four years under the Biden administration.”
Later that day, Van Duyne addressed federal efforts to combat fraud in the United States. In her post dated May 16, she wrote, “The American people should applaud every take down, every arrest, and every move that is being made by this Administration and our Republican Congress to attack the estimated $500 BILLION of fraud in our country. This isn’t just stolen tax dollars from hardworking Americans. It’s”
On the same day, Van Duyne reported meeting with business leaders about congressional activities and trade agreements. She shared on May 16: “Earlier this week, I joined the Texas Business Leadership Council for a discussion on our work in Congress this year, upcoming priorities, and an update on USMCA. It was great to chat with many business leaders from across the Lone Star State, while they were visiting D.C.!”
Van Duyne has represented Texas’s 24th district since 2021 after replacing Kenny Marchant. She has won three consecutive general elections: defeating Candace Valenzuela in 2020 by a narrow margin (48.8% to 47.5%), Jan McDowell in 2022 (59.7% to 40.3%), and Sam Eppler in 2024 (60.3% to 39.7%). Born in Ithaca, New York in 1970 and currently residing in Irving at age 52, Van Duyne continues her tenure as a prominent member of Congress from Texas.
