Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, who represents Texas’s 24th congressional district, posted a series of statements on October 3, 2025, criticizing Senate Democrats regarding ongoing government funding negotiations.
In a post made at 01:53 UTC, Van Duyne wrote, “Democrats put themselves first and hold the government hostage, instead of doing what is best for America.”
Later that day at 17:02 UTC, she stated, “Senate Democrats have the opportunity to do the right thing today for the American people.”
At 18:13 UTC on the same day, Van Duyne expanded on her criticism: “Democrats have completely broken with how they have acted in the past by keeping our government shutdown because they have a long list of ridiculous and expensive demands. They are willing to harm working families, single parent households, and the elderly who need home”
Beth Van Duyne has held her seat since 2020 after defeating Candace Valenzuela in a close race. She secured re-election in subsequent cycles against Jan McDowell in 2022 and Sam Eppler in 2024, each time with over 59% of the vote.
