Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, who represents North Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives, used her social media platform this week to highlight the work of local Chambers of Commerce and comment on the ongoing government shutdown. Her posts also included criticism of Democratic lawmakers regarding the federal budget impasse.

On October 14, 2025, Van Duyne expressed appreciation for local business organizations: “This week, we recognize all of our local Chambers of Commerce for the vital work they do to champion businesses of all sizes across our great state. A special thank you to all of the Chambers across North Texas who partner with us each year for our North Texas Job Fair and help”.

The following day, she addressed the ongoing budget standoff in Washington. On October 15, 2025, she wrote: “Republicans have done our job, over three weeks ago we passed a clean Continuing Resolution to ensure the government would remain open. But, Democrats are continuing to play politics and hold the American people hostage.”

Later that day, she reiterated her criticism regarding the government shutdown: “We are on day 15 of the Democrat shutdown. For more than two weeks they have been holding hardworking Americans hostage over their $1.5 trillion wish list of demands that are completely unreasonable. See for yourself “

Van Duyne has served as a representative for North Texas since 2021. She secured her seat in three consecutive general elections: in 2020 against Candace Valenzuela with 48.8% to 47.5%, in 2022 against Jan McDowell with 59.7% to 40.3%, and in 2024 against Sam Eppler with 60.3% to 39.7%.

Her recent statements reflect ongoing partisan disagreements in Congress over federal spending priorities and efforts to keep the government funded.
