Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, who represents Texas’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, used her Twitter account on May 12 and 13, 2026, to comment on law enforcement and government spending.
On May 12, Van Duyne posted: “ICYMI: Each and every day @ICEgov protects communities across the country.”
Later that day, she addressed government spending with a critique of Democratic lawmakers: “The hypocrisy is real… D.C. Democrats claim they care about spending? If they were serious, they’d be helping root out the hundreds of billions in waste, fraud and abuse.Â
@HouseGOP is fighting to expose and eliminate fraud in government programs so we can cut spending and” (posted May 12).
On May 13, during National Police Week, Van Duyne highlighted legislative efforts to address retail crime: “Retail crime affects everyone and addressing it requires strong partnerships with law enforcement.
During Police Week, I’m glad to support legislation that helps keep our communities safe with the House passage of the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act.”
Beth Van Duyne has represented Texas’s 24th congressional district since replacing Kenny Marchant in 2021. She was born in Ithaca, New York in 1970 and currently resides in Irving at age 52. In recent elections for her seat, she defeated Sam Eppler in 2024 with over sixty percent of the vote, Jan McDowell in 2022 by a similar margin, and Candace Valenzuela in a closer race in 2020.
