Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne has recently used her social media platform to address the ongoing government shutdown and its effects on North Texas, as well as to comment on national political dynamics.

On November 5, 2025, Van Duyne posted about her visit to a local aid organization: “I stopped by the North Texas Food Bank, which serves 12 counties across North Texas. While they’ve been experiencing long lines at their food pantries and a higher demand due to the government shutdown, we are also seeing the absolute best of our North Texas community stepping up” (Nov. 5, 2025).

Later that day, she criticized Democratic lawmakers regarding the federal budget impasse: “The Democrats have now caused the longest shutdown in American history. They have held the American people hostage for 36 days.

@HouseGOP did our job 47 days ago by passing a clean continuing resolution. It is time for Democrats in the Senate to stop playing games with the” (Nov. 5, 2025).

In another post on November 5, Van Duyne contrasted Republican and Democratic approaches to governance: “The contrast could not be more clear, President Trump and Republicans are delivering historic trade and peace deals, building on the success of the working families tax cuts, while Democrats hold our government hostage for a $1.5 trillion wish list of radical demands.” (Nov. 5, 2025).

Beth Van Duyne represents North Texas in Congress and has secured multiple election victories in recent years. In the most recent general election of 2024, she defeated Sam Eppler with approximately 60% of the vote. She previously won against Jan McDowell in 2022 and Candace Valenzuela in 2020.
