Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, who represents Texas’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to address ongoing issues related to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown and to recognize local community service.
On April 6, 2026, Van Duyne posted about a recent appearance on a news program: “Yesterday, I joined @SundayFutures to talk with @JackieDeAngelis about the DHS shutdown and all of the harm being inflicted on the American people by D.C. Democrats. Check it out below https://t.co/5ANeQj9tX3”. The same day, she commented further on the issue of DHS funding: “Senate Democrats are refusing to FULLY fund DHS and the American people are paying the price — four jihadist attacks, murders by criminal aliens, TSA agents going without pay, and hundreds of thousands of passengers stranded.
All a stunt to protect criminal illegal aliens. https://t.co/2OCjwbDVmR”.
On April 7, 2026, Van Duyne shifted focus to honor a member of her district: “I am delighted to highlight our next 2025 #TX24 Congressional Veteran Commendation recipient, Lieutenant Colonel Cynthis Trickett, United States Air Force, of Dallas.
Thank you for your courage and commitment to our community, Ms. Trickett. We’re honored to extend you this https://t.co/S3sZLtUSPS“.
Van Duyne has served as the congressional representative for Texas’s 24th district since 2021 after replacing Kenny Marchant. She was born in Ithaca, New York in 1970 and currently resides in Irving at age 52. In previous elections for this seat she defeated Sam Eppler in 2024 with over 60% of the vote; Jan McDowell in 2022; and Candace Valenzuela in a close race in 2020.
