Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, who represents Texas’s 24th Congressional District, posted a series of messages on August 23, 2025, addressing public safety issues, support for veterans, and commercial driver licensing policies.
In her first post of the day, Van Duyne raised concerns about California’s approach to commercial driver licenses. She wrote on August 23: “This week, I urged Sec. Duffy and Sec. Noem to address California’s dangerous CDL policies, which allow individuals here unlawfully to obtain commercial licenses and operate large trucks on our roads. These loopholes have already led to tragedy, it is time to strengthen”.
Later that morning, she commented on broader themes of public safety and criminal justice reform. On August 23 she stated: “Inspiring a new generation of Americans to join in the protection of America, public safety that empowers people to live their best lives, and ends the coddling of criminals.”
That afternoon, Van Duyne highlighted her district’s veteran population and a partnership with the Library of Congress Veterans History Project. She posted: “North Texas is home to over 300,000 veterans, representing every branch of the Armed Forces and every era of service. I’m excited to partner with the @librarycongress Veterans History Project to record and preserve stories from TX-24 veterans to ensure their service and sacrifice”.
Beth Van Duyne has represented Texas’s 24th district since winning her initial election in 2020 against Candace Valenzuela by a narrow margin. She was re-elected in subsequent cycles—defeating Jan McDowell in 2022 with nearly 60% of the vote and Sam Eppler in 2024 with over 60% support.
